What is a double circulatory system?
Blood passes through the heart twice in one cycle
1 of 18
Arteries definition
1) Have thick muscular walls 2) Carry blood away from the heart
2 of 18
Veins definition
1) Are thin-walled wide vessels that carry slow flowing blood 2) Carry blood back to the heart
3 of 18
Capillaries definition
1) Allow important substances in the blood to pass into the fluid around cells 2) Have very thin leaky walls

Why do veins need valves?
Keeps the blood flowing in one direction

Why do capillaries have very thin walls?
Allows substances in the blood to pass around cells
