What can adult stem cells treat?
Some disorders such as lukaemia.

Why would we use embryonic stem cells?
They ahve the potential to differentiate into a wide variety of cells.

How are embryonic stem cells got?
From spare embryos from IVF or created from adult cells or taken from the umbilical cord of newborn babies.

What could embryonic stem cells be used for?
Grow new tissues/organs for transplant.

Why are people concerned about the use of embryos?
As they have the potential to be a babyand cannot give permission and the research is expensive.

What does embryo screening involve?
Test to diagnose disorders before the baby is born.

What can embryo screening mean for parents?
They can choose to terminate the baby or if they think that is unethical prepare for its birth.

What happens in IVF to do with screening?
All of the embryos are screened and only the healthy ones are implanted the rest destroyed.
