What is the difference between the effect of antibiotics and antivirals?
An antibiotic destroys a pathogen; an antiviral drug slows down the pathogen's development.

A harmless pill that is used as a comparison in drug testing so the effect of the new drug can be assessed.

Where the patient doesn't know if they are recieving the new drug or a placebo.

What is a double blind trial?
Where neither the patient or the doctor know which treatment is being used. This type of trial avoids a 'feel good factor' and a biased opinion.
