Why is testing new drugs so important?
Drugs are tested to see if they work well. We also make sure that they are not too toxic and have no unacceptable side effects.

Effective, Safe, Stable and Sucessfully taken into and removed from your body.

What is thaildomide?
Thaildomide was developed as a sleeping and was found to prevent morning sickness in early pregnancy. It had not been fully tested and it caused birth defects.

What is a double blind trial?
A drug trial in which neither the patient nor doctor knows if the patient is receiving the new drug or a placebo.

What is a placebo?
A placebo is a pill that looks like a drug being tested but contains no drugs.

Briefly explain why a drug is tested on healthy volunteers first?
To check whether the drugs have any unknown side effects, and to find the optimum does of the drug.
