What is a Drug?
A drug is a chemical substance that changes any way in which the body works.

A substance that distorts sense perception.

Describe the general effects of stimulants.
Stimulants increase the speed of nerve impulses (neurotransmission) across synapses. This speeds up reaction times.

Explain what is meant by a reaction time.
The time it takes for the body to respond to an outside stimulus.

Name an example of a stimulant.
Caffeine.

Describe the general effects of depressants.
Depressants slow down the activity of neurones in the brain and can help us to relax.
