B1: Organelles and their Functions

Organelles of Animal/ Plant and Bacteria Cells and their functions.

I printed off used this resource and cut them into the cards and used it as a matching game

?
Nucleus
Controls what the cells does and contains most of the cell's genetic material
1 of 10
Cytoplasm
Watery fluid in a cell where chemical reactions take place
2 of 10
Vacuole
Large structure that contains cell sap (a weak solution of sugar and salts)
3 of 10
Cell Wall
Made of cellulose and supports the cell
4 of 10
Cell Membrane
A thin layer that surrounds the cell and controls what enters/ exits the cell
5 of 10
Chloroplasts
Where photosynthesis takes place
6 of 10
Mitochondria
Round double- sided organelles where aerobic respiration takes place, this provides the cell with energy
7 of 10
Ribosome
Spherical organelles where proteins are synthesized
8 of 10
Plasmid
Small, circular and double- stranded DNA molecule that is different from chromosomal DNA
9 of 10
Flagellum
Allows cells to travel but it also has a function as a sensory organelle which detects the temperature outside the cell and chemicals surrounding the cell
