What do depressants do?
block the nerve impulses across synapses by binding with receptor molecules in the membrane of the recieving neurone

Causemore neurotransmitter substances to cross synapse

The chemicals stop the cilia moving

What is a smoker's cough a result of?
Dust and particulates in the smoke collect and irritate in the epithelial lining/mucas not being moved by the cilia

It increases both

Damages it when it trys to break down the toxic chemical (cirrhosis of the liver)
