A microprocessor or computer, internal sensors or sensor input and data storage.

What are some advantages to using computerised data logging and not logging data manually?
Automatic readings can be taken at the correct time intervals, the possibility of human error is removed and the actual readings can be taken quickly and accurately in spilt-second events.

To observe vital signs such as pulse rate or the percentage of oxygen in the blood.

An alarm or warning is sent to the hospital staff to take action with details of what is wrong.
