Lacks validity - The learning theory (based on operant and classical conditioning) is lagey based on studies with non-human animals. Human behaviour may be different to what an animals behaviour would be toward something.

A second limitation to the learning theory
Food isn't the most important thing for attachment. Schaffer and Emerson (1964) studies 60 babies for a year and found that infants were not most attached to the person who fed them but to the person who was most responsive & interacted with them.
