1. & 2. = Children being away from their parents for some tiem can cause distress to the child, change of behaviour and detachment between the child and the care giver(s).

A strength to research done on the effects of disruption to attachment.

Has high external validity.The films were real life events, in a realistic setting. It also lacks observer bias because the record is available for others to inspect and check is observation.

What does this strength suggest/show?

That this study can be related to real life situations.

A limitation to research done on the effects of disruption to attachment.

However it is argued that this study lacks validity. Individual differences need to be considered e.g. background - if the child is used to being left away from their parents.

Not all children would respond the same way to separation depending on the child's individual differences.
