4 of 6
Describe the alpha-scattering experiment
Gold foil was hammered a few atoms thick. Positive alpha particles where fired at it. Most passed through. Some where deflected. Some bounced straight back.
5 of 6
Explain the results of the alpha particle experiment.
Since Most passed straight through, mostly empty space. Some where deflected so the centre was positively charged. The ones that bounced back show that the nucleus has a great mass.
