It would be overseen by sheriffs and juries. It reinstated Henry control 1 of 12 The assize of Northampton 1176- "reissued, strenghened and modified the laws which had been made a decade earlier" 2 of 12 The assize of Clarendon 1166- 'common law' It standadised criminal law, and the responsibility of criminals was given to sheriffs. It introduced a jury of 12 men. 3 of 12 The concil of Clarendon 1164- Henry demanded again they uphold the customs of England. Becket eventualy signed it but refused to attach his seal 4 of 12 The Council of Westminster 1163- Henry demanded English bishops uphold customs of England regarding criminous clerks, excommunication and trips to Rome. 5 of 12 The Council of Woodstock 1163- Becket refused to pay sherrifs aid directly to exchequer.
