Cultural Deprivation Theory
This theory says working class culture makes people disadvantaged.

Feminism
Belief that women are disadvantaged in society, and that women and men should have equal rights. Feminist sociologists think that mainstream sociology has ignored the lives of women.

Functionalism
The belief that everything in society exists for a reason.

Interpretivism
A sociological appraoch which focuses on the actions and thoughts of individuals. Also called interactionism.

Marxism
The belief that society is divided into the bourgeoise, who own the 'means of production' and the proletariat, who do the work. The bourgeoise exploit the workers and arrange society to keep the workers down.

Positivism
A theoretical point of view which concentrates on social facts, scientific method, and quantitative data.
