Codification
The process of gathering together all Acts and case law in a particular area and making them into one Act.

Repeal
The process of modernising statutes, and making obsolete those statutes that are no longer of any use or needed in modern society.

Consolidation
A similar process to codification only instead of taking all the Acts and the case law, this process merely brings together all the Acts into one place, with now new provisions.

Consultation
A part of the process whereby the Law Commission's proposals are circulated to the legal professionals, academics, the media, the public and interest groups in order that the Commission can glean their comments and opinions to provide the solution
