24th August AD79 - Mount Versuvius erupted and covers the city in ash. 20,000 population, as many as 2000 died. Abandoned after the eruption.

Covered in mud lava after the eruption of Mount Versuvius. Was a popular resort for wealthy Romans, abandoned after the eruption.
