Carbohydrate releases energy.
2 of 29
What is protein needed for?
Protein is needed for growth, cell repair and cell replacement.
3 of 29
What is fat needed for?
Fat is needed for warmth and to release energy.
4 of 29
What is fiber needed for?
Fiber is needed to keep everything moving smoothly through the digestive system.
5 of 29
What is water needed for?
Water is needed to stay alive and to keep the skin hydrated.
6 of 29

8 of 29
Define deficiency disease and give an example.
Deficiency disease are caused by lack of nutrients. For example, scurvy is a disease caused by lack of vitamin C.
9 of 29
List 5 health problems associated with having an unbalanced diet.
Type 2 diabetes, arthritis, stroke, high blood pressure and heart problems.
10 of 29
Give three ways people can decreases the chances of getting these health problems.
Eat less salt, eat less animal products and exercise regularly.
11 of 29
In which type of countries is obesity most common?
Developed countries.
12 of 29
What 4 kinds of health problems can obesity lead to?
Arthritis, Type 2 diabetes, some kinds of cancer and high blood pressure.
13 of 29
Why is too much saturated fat bad for a person?
It increases the blood cholesterol level.
14 of 29
Why is exercise good for health?
It increases the amount of energy used by the body and decreases the amount stored as fat.
15 of 29
Which excessive amount of food groups can cause obesity?
Carbohydrate and fat.
16 of 29
How can a person be fit and malnourished at the same time?
Even though person does regular exercise and is slim they might have an unbalanced diet so they are malnourished.
17 of 29
How will you put on weight?

Why is too much cholesterol bad?
It can start building up in blood vessel like the arteries. This can cause a clot and if the artery is completed blocked it can cause heart attack.
20 of 29
What are cholesterol needed for?
Cholesterol are needed to build cell membranes and make hormones.
21 of 29
What is cholesterol?
A fatty substance transported in the blood.
22 of 29
Why are unsaturated fat good?
Unsaturated fat contain HDL (high density lipoprotein) which carries cholesterol from the cells to the liver. This reduces cholesterol building up in the blood vessels ad therefore reduces the chances of getting heart attack and other heart diseases.
23 of 29
Why are saturated fat bad?
Saturated fat contains LDL ( Low density lipoprotein) which carries choleterol form the liver to the cells. Therefore it increases the chances of getting heart attacks and heart diseases.
24 of 29
What food increases the level of unsaturated fat?
Vegetable oil.
25 of 29
What food increases the level of saturated fat?
Butter, lard and meat.
