?
What is the perminant vacuole of a plant filled with, in order to maintain a rigid cell structure?
Cell Sap
1 of 31
Chloroplasts contian...
Green Chlorophyll
2 of 31
Cell chemistry reactions are kept seperate and their rates normal by..
Enzymes
3 of 31
I have very little cytoplasm, very few mitochondria and I can expand up to 1000 times my origional size, what am i?
fat call
4 of 31
I have an increased surface area (in the form of hairs), a large perminant vacuole for effective water movement and I am positioned close to the xylem tissue of a plant, what am I?
root hair cell
5 of 31
I have a long tail made of muscle like proteins, lots of mitochondria in my middle section, a large nuclues and an acrosome full of digestive enzymes, what am I?
sperm cell
6 of 31
My outer segment is full of visual pigment, and my middle is full of mitochondria to supple this visual pigment the energy to work, and a synapse connected to the optic nerve, what am I?
cone cell

The order of organised cells goes as follows:
cells->tissues->organs->organ systems->whole body

Diffusion is the net movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration, but how do we find the overall (net) movement?
particles moving in - particles moving out
9 of 31
Bigger the difference in concentration = faster diffusion. The bigger the difference...
the steeper the concentration gradient
10 of 31
Diffusion is made faster by an increase in temperature, concentration and...
surface area
11 of 31
A cell will burst due to osmosis when... (reffering to a sugar solution, NOT a dilute solution)
concentration of sugar solution outside cell < that in the cell
12 of 31
Osmosis is a special type of diffusion whereby...
only water moves across a partially permeable membrane
13 of 31
In plants, lots of osmosis causes the cytoplasm in cells to swell and press against plant cell walls untill...
no more water can fit and the cell is rigid
14 of 31
the purpose of the waxy cuticle of a leaf is...
to prevent water loss
15 of 31
After photosynthesis, soluble glucose is converted into
insoluble startch
16 of 31
A test for startch is using a yellow-brown iodine solution, which sturns ??? when added to the startch, and thus is a good test for photosynthesis.
blue
17 of 31
Limiting factors for photosynthesis are...
light, temperature and carbon dioxide
18 of 31
Palicade cells...
have lots of chloroplasts
19 of 31
The purpose of guard cells is too...
open and close stomata and thus prevent water loss, and allow the stomata to exchange gasses in and out the leaf
20 of 31
Plants respire as well as photosynthesise in order to...
protein synthesise, store energy in seeds and make cellulose
21 of 31
Xylem tubes have thick strong walls and carry water ions around the plant, along with what else?
mineral ions
22 of 31
Tubers and bulbs are..
storage organs
23 of 31
Plants need nitrates to...
make amino acids for enzymes
24 of 31
Plants need magnesium to...
Make chlorophyll to photosynthesise
25 of 31
Is a plant has magnesium deficiencies...
it's leaves will yellow
26 of 31
If a plant is deficient of nitrates, it will...
be small and stunted
27 of 31
Hydroponics is..
planting crops in water under artificial conditions
28 of 31
What happens in the Ribosomes of cells?
Protein Synthesis
29 of 31
Respiration =
oxygen+glucose-->carbon dioxide+water+energy
30 of 31
Homeostatis maintains the body's internal conditions, including removing waste products, conrolling water concentration, maintaining a healthy blood sugar level, mainatining a constant internal body temperature and...
monitoring ion concentration

Thanks it really helped, but surely in question 21 water is a limiting factor as it is need for photosynthesis
