What is the role of tombstone?
It indicates the location of a person's grave, so you can treat it with respect.

1) R.I.P written means 'Rest in Peace,'a prayer expressing hope that the person is enjoying Heaven. 2) Some in shape of cross, to show person believed in Jesus & shows the hope that they'll go to heaven.

Why are there angels carved on tombstones?
To refelect catholic idea that you have a guardian angel who takes care of them during their life. The angel presents them to God, asking for a merciful judgement.

It is a structure built to remember an important person e.g. St.Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral

highly decorated coffins

What were monuments decorated with in the Middle Ages?
skeletons & other symbols of decay, which shows no matter what ur status is, you'll face God's judgement like everyone else.

What is the purpose of a remembrance garden?
An outside area where you can place someone's ashes after they've been cremated.They're designed to be areas of peace & beauty
