Antiseptics

Chemical substances that can be applied to the body's surface to kill microorganisms. Plant's defend themselves by producing antibacterial substances.

Antibiotics

Kill or prevent growth of bacteria and some fungi inside the body. Those that affect bacteria are called antibacterials (eg. penicillin), Those that affect fungi are called antifungals (eg. nystatin). Antibiotics don't kill viruses.

Antibiotic resistance

All bacteria have variation, some are more resistant that others. Antibiotics will kill some bacteria but resistant bacteria will be unharmed. When you feel well you stop taking your antibiotics, meaning bacteria left are not killed.
