What is the proximal attachment of pectineus?
Superior ramus of pubis
1 of 24
What is the distal attachment of pectineus.
Pectineal line of femur, just inferior to lesser trochanter.
2 of 24
What is the innervation of pectineus?
Femoral nerve (L2, L3) - (may receive branch from obturator nerve).
3 of 24
What are the main actions of pectineus?
Adducts and flexes hip joint. Assists with medial rotation of hip joint.
4 of 24
What is the proximal attachment of sartorius?
Anterior superior iliac spine and superior part of notch inferior to it.
5 of 24
What is the distal attachment of sartorius?
Superior part of medial surface of tibia.
6 of 24
What is the innervation of sartorius?
Femoral nerve (L2, L3).
7 of 24
What are the main actions of sartorius?
Abducts, flexes and laterally rotates hip joint. Flexes knee joint.
8 of 24
What are the 2 muscles that make up iliopsoas?
Psoas major and iliacus.
9 of 24
What is the proximal attachment of psoas major?
Sides of T12-L5 vertebrae and discs between them; transverse processes of all lumbar vertebrae.
10 of 24
What is the distal attachment of psoas major?
Lesser trochanter of femur.
11 of 24
What is the innervation of psoas major?
Anterior rami of lumbar nerves (L1, L2, L3).
12 of 24
What is the proximal attachment of iliacus?
Iliac crest, iliac fossa, ala of sacrum and anterior sacro-iliac ligaments.
13 of 24
What is the distal attachment of iliacus?
Tendon of psoas major, lesser trochanter and femur distal to it.
14 of 24
What is the innervation of iliacus?
Femoral nerve (L2, L3).
15 of 24
What are the main actions of iliopsoas?
Psoas major and iliacus act conjointly to flex and stabilise hip joint. Psoas major also a postural muscles that helps control deviation of the trunk and is active during standing.
16 of 24
What are the 4 muscles that make up quadriceps femoris?
Rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis and vastus intermedius.
17 of 24
What is the proximal attachment of rectus femoris?
Anterior inferior iliac spine and ilium superior to acetabulum.
18 of 24
What is the proximal attachment of vastus lateralis?
Greater trochanter and lateral lip of linea aspera.
19 of 24
What is the proximal attachment of vastus medialis?
Intertrochanteric line and medial lip of linea aspera.
20 of 24
What is the proximal attachment of vastus intermedius?
Anterior and lateral surfaces of shaft of femur.
21 of 24
What is the distal attachment of quadriceps femoris?
All muscles attach via quadriceps tendon and independent attachments to base of patella and indirectly via patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity. Vastus medialis and lateralis also attach to tibia and patella via aponeuroses.
22 of 24
What is the innervation of quadriceps femoris?
Femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4).
23 of 24
What are the main actions of quadriceps femoris?
Extends knee joint. Rectus femoris also stabilises hip joint and helps iliopspoas flex hip joint.
