p:
pupils constrict, slow hr, airways constricts bronchial tubes, liver stimulates bile realease, blood vessels contract, digestive system stimulates activity, uterus relaxation, urinary inc.

what happens in the autonomic baroreceptor reflex?
when standing up, the carotid artery pressure falls
baroreceptor firing rate in wall palls
vagal parasympathetic tone reduced
hr increases, and systemic blood pressure rises
brain o2 maintained and postal hypotension (when bp drops standing up) is avoided
2 of 5
target tissues of ANS
smooth muscle
- found in visceral (internal organs mainly abdominal cavity)
-vascular ( eg found in veins)
exocrine glands

PNS and SNS wiring; what it is
they have two neurone wiring, goes along preganglionic neuron to the synapse, into target organ and into post ganglionic neuron.
PNS ganglia usually lie close to or within target organ eg heart.
4 of 5
