What 's nucleus do?
controls all the activities of the cell. It contains the genes on the chromosomes. They carry the instructions for making a new cell or new organisms
1 of 14
what's a cytoplasm?
liquid gel which most chemical reactions needed for life take place
2 of 14
what's mitochondria?
structures in the cytoplasm where oxygen is used and most of the energy is released during respiration
3 of 14
what's a cell membrane?
controls the passage of substances into and out of the cell
4 of 14
what's ribosomes?
protein synthesis takes place. All the proteins needed in the cell are made here.
5 of 14
what's a cell wall?
made of cellulose that strengthens and supports the cell
6 of 14
what's chloroplasts?
found in all green parts of the plant. green because it contains chlorophyll (green substance).
7 of 14
what does chlorophyll do?
absorbs light energy to make food by photosynthesis.
8 of 14
what don't root cells do?
root cells dont chloroplast because they are underground therefore don't photosynthesise
9 of 14
what's a permanent vacuole?
a space in the cytoplasm filled with cell sap. this is important for keeping the cells rigid to support the plant
10 of 14
name all the things inside of a plant cell?
cell membrane, ribosomes, cellulose cell wall, mitochondria, cytoplasm, permanent vacuole, chloroplasts, and a nucleus.
11 of 14
Name all the things in an animal cell?
cell membrane, Ribosomes, mitochondria, cytoplasm, nucleus
12 of 14
what do most human cells contain?
most human cells are like most other animal cells and contain a nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria, and ribosomes.
13 of 14
what do plant and algal cells contain?
plant and algal cells contain all the structures seen in animal cells as well as a cell wall. Many plant cells also contain chloroplasts and a permanent vacuole filled with sap.
