Supposedly appointed by Edward on his death bed.

The Battle of Gate Fulford
Between Harald H and Tostig vs Edwin and Morcar
Edwin is freed and Morcar is imprisoned.
Harald H went to wait for hostages at Stamford Bridge.

The Battle of Stamford Bridge
Between Harald H and Harold G
Harald H was waiting for hostages when Harold G crept up and started a battle.
Harold G won and killed Harald H with an arrow through the eye.

The Battle of Hastings
Between Harold G and William of Normandy.
William said that he had made an agreement with Edward to become King when dies.
William killed Harold G.
England became Norman.

Submission of the Earls
William wanted the Earls to submit to him.
They didn't want to so William went around destroying towns and villages.
Earls wouldn't come out of London and William couldn't get it because of the wall protecting it.

William returned to Normandy because he felt England was secure enough.
Edwin was promised to marry William's daughter but William didn't let him in the end.
Geld tax annoyed the Earls so they wanted to fight back - it didnt

Edgar the Aethling and the Rebellions of the North
Series of rebellions started in the North.
Robert Cumin dies.
Uprising starts in York and William defeats the rebels.
Danish invade on East Coast and combine with the Anglo Saxons.
They are all paid to go

Harrying of the North.
William completely destroyed the North.
Salt was ploughed into the grounds to stop any living thing being there.
60% of Yorkshire was classed as waste.
This reduced the likelihood of Danish Invasion.

Danes arrive in East Anglia and meet Hereward.
Hereward is upset because his land has been given to Normans.
Danes and Hereward raid a church and are successful.
William has trouble catching Hereward because Ely is marsh.
Morcar joins Hereward.

The Revolt of the Earls
William was shrinking Earldoms sizes and sent in sheriffs to control their Earldoms and they had enough.
The Earls didnt have a plan so they were just trying to revolt and see how it goes.

The Domesday book was created and the King could see everyone who was paying and wasnt paying their taxes and who owned what land.
