What was the watergate scandal?
it was an office block in DC Nixons committee to Re-elect the president, wanted to get Democratic party secrets, they did 2 illegal breakins to install survelliance technology, Nixon tried to cover the administrations involvement,approval rating sank

Nixon recorded conversations in the whitehouse, in 1974 congress ordered that he was to release all of them and it was revealed he ordered the cover up, he was going to be impeached with obstruction of justice so he resigned in 1974, pardoned by Ford

Ford (1974-77)= Americans thought he was a regular guy but he lost his popularity when he pardoned Nixon, the media enjoyed making fun of him falling down (LBJ said “he had played football once too often without the helmet on”)
