Briefly describe the theory
People obey when they are in an agentic state which occurs when an authority figure gives orders

What is the agentic state?
The state where they allow others to direct their actions because they are acting as agents for the authority figure and thus not responsible for their actions

What is the autonomous state?
The state where people act according t their own personal moral code so they take responsibility for their actions as a result.

What is moral strain?
When people are asked to do something against their morals by and authority figure so it causes them stress

What can occur due to marl strain?
Dissent- when a person disobeys

What are binding agents?
Techniques that reduce moral strain and keep someone obeying, for example- Foot in the door method or passing the blame

What 2 things have to be in place for a person to go into the agentic state?
1) The person giving orders must be of legitimate authority, 2) The LAF must accept responsibility
