what were the Christian policies towards caring for the sick?
- believed illnes was brought by God to punish people for thier sins. Believed that to heal it was important to pray for forgivness. Nuns fed the sick and gave them herbal remedies but prayer was the most important remedy.

who was Ibn Sina?
known as the Galen of Islam, he wrote a medical encyclopedia called 'the canon'. it was used to teach European physicians until the 1600s. He included Greek ideas as well as his own.

wrote over 200 books including his own ideas. he believed " he who studies the works of the Ancients gains the experience of thier labour as if he had lived thousands of years".
