Arbitration
Parties refer the dispute to a third party, who acts as a judge and gives a decision on the dispute. The Abitration act 1996.

Mediation
The parties are assited by a third party, the mediator, in order to make their own decision and resolve the dispute.

Conciliation
Similar to mediation, but the conciliator has an active role and can help make suggestions to help resolve the dispute.

Tribunals
Similar to a court, but less formal. It is an alternative way to resolve a dispute where legislative rules indicate a specific route of resolution.

Negotiation
Normally an initial method. The parties communicate directly in order to resolve the dispute.
