nth term
Sometimes, rather than finding the next number in a linear sequence, you want to find the 41st number, or 110th number, say. Writing out 41 or 110 numbers takes a long time, so you can use a general rule. To find the value of any term in a sequence,
1 of 6
Adding and subtracting fractions
Find the common denominator which is the LCM for example 2/5+1/4 LCM of 4 and 5 is 20 so 8/20+5/20= 13/20
2 of 6
Finding percentages
32 out of 50- 32/50 x2 64/100 (multiply to get denominator to 100) 32= 64% of 50
3 of 6
Expanding negative brackets
-(3x-2) = -3x+2 (always make into opposite)
4 of 6
Volume formula
Volume = Length × Width × Height
5 of 6
Linear function
x={1,2,3,4,5} maps on to {2,5,8,11,14} is y=3x-1
