A2 Psychology Statistical Tests

?
What is the first step of every statistical test?
State the alternate and null hypothesis.
1 of 14
How should a conclusion be written?
As the observed value is ______ than the critical value, we must accept/reject the null hypothesis and conclude that there is....significance/no significance....
2 of 14
When is Spearmans Rank Test used?
When the hypothesis states a correlation between two variables. When repeated groups design is used. When the data is ordinal or interval.
3 of 14
What is the rule for Spearmans RHO?
The observed value must be greater than or equal to the critical value for there to be a significant correlation.
4 of 14
What is the second step to spearman's rho?
Rank each covariable (1 being the lowest value), find the difference between the ranks, and square each difference and add them up.
5 of 14
What is Step 3 and Step 4 of Spearman's RHO?
Step 3 - Observed Value. Step 4 - critical value.
6 of 14
When is the Chi Square Test used?
When the data is nominal. When it is independent groups design. When the hypothesis predicts a difference between covariables. When there is at least 20 pps.
7 of 14
What is step 2 of the chi square test?
Contingency table
8 of 14
What is step 3 and 4 of Chi Square test?
Observed value + critical value.
9 of 14
What is the rule of the Chi Square Test?
For there to be significance, the observed value must be equal or greater than the critical value.
10 of 14
When is the Mann Whitney U test used?
When the hypothesis states a difference between two sets of data. When it is indepdent groups design. When the data is ordinal or nominal.
11 of 14
What is step 2 of the Mann Whitney U test?
Allocate a point score to each of the data in the table - look at independent scores in one group, compaire it with all the scores in the second group, allocate 1 point for every score that is higher, allocate 1/2 a point for every score the same.
12 of 14
How do you find the observed value in Mann Whitney?
The observed value is the lowest total point score.
13 of 14
What is the rule for Mann Whitney?
The observed value must be equal to or less than the critical value for significance to be shown.
