Explain what the Data Protection Act involves
The Data Protection Act involves making sure that any personal data used by an organisation stays private and secure, there a 8 principles and they all try to achieve this.

A policy could be to hire a data controller to overlook data protection, a procedure could be to make sure that employees need access rights to view personal data.

The Computer Misuse Act in terms of an organisation involves making sure an organisation is protected from internal and external threats

A policy could be to give disciplinary actions to staff that download any unauthorised things from the internet, a procedure could be to make sure that all computers on the network have up to date anti-virus software.

This ensures that organisations have properly licensed software and media and that all copyrighted materials are used legally.

A policy could be to remove or purchase licenses for any unauthorised software and a procedure could be to regularly run audits to make sure that software on the organisation's network is all licensed

Explain what the Freedom of Information Act involves
The Freedom of Information Act only involves public organisations such as parts of the government and makes sure that they provide relevant information when requested

One procedure would be to store data in a format so that it is easily searchable and can be released easily, a policy could be to set up a FoI team that will anticipate requests and speed up the process.

Explain what the RIPA involves
This legislation involves the government being able to over-watch what people do and store this data, for private organisations it also allows them to monitor their staff

What policies or procedures would be in place due to the RIPA
A policy could be to make sure that during their induction it is made clear to new staff that what they do may be monitored, a procedure could be to keep logs of calls and store what employees do.

Explain what the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations involves
This involves making sure there is transparency between the online retailer and the customer.

What policies or procedures would be in place due to the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations
One policy could be to make sure the company sells product ethically and in a fair way, a procedure could be to have a "best practice" policy to ensure email marketing is fair by having staff training
