What is a moral decision?
Making a decision about what is right or wrong. Eg. whether to abort a baby when the mother has been *****

Why do christians look to the bible?
it is the word of god, it was dictated by god so it has absolute authority, it is the teaching of god and the stories of jesus, it contains the 10 commandments (decalogue), it is the word of god therefore by following it you know god will approve.

Why do other christians thing that it is not the 'be all and end all'?
they look to the church, we also use out concience, it may have been inspired by god but it was written by humans, written in a socially different time.

bible need to be explained and interpreted in to todays world, gos speakes through the church, every christian follows the church to know what i right, the church comes from the infalliable pope

What is conscience?
An inner feeling of the rightness or wrongness of an action/

Why christians believe the conscience should be followed?
your concience is the last part of moral decision making, it is the owrd of god, you should follow it even if it goes against the church.

Why christians believe that you shouldnt always follow your conscience?
people may have been wrong about the voice of god e.g yorkshire ripper, lots of difference of opinion would cause chaos, following the bible and the church means you cannot go wrong.

What is 'situation ethics'?
basing decisions on a specific situation

Why do some christians use situation ethics when making decisions?
jesus went agains the bible and saved someone on the sabbath (saturday), religion should be based on love and not law, sometimes the most loving thing to do is go against the bible.

Why do some people think that situation ethics is wrong?
sometimes the most loving thing isnt the right thing, it might go against the word of god, not knowing all of the facts may lead to making the wrong decisions, might go against the 10 commandments (decalogue)

Situation Ethics
if the bible says its wrong its wrong, however Joseph Fletcher thought decisions should be based on 'love thy neighbour' and on individual circumstance.
