Dynamic Equilibrium
Occurs when the rate of a forward reaction equals that of the reverse reaction in a closed system.
1 of 5
Equilibirum Constant, Kc
[C]c [D]d / [A]a [B]b (values in brackets are the equilibrium concentrations in mol dm-3)
2 of 5
Temperature changes the Equilibrium Constant:
Kc= [products] / [reactants]
3 of 5
Le Chatelier's Principle
when one or more factors that affect the position of the chemical equilibrium are altered, the equilibrium will shift to oppose the change.
4 of 5
What 2 factors do not affect the equilibrium constant?
concentrations of the species and catalysts.
