Edward Jenner tested his theory about smallpox and cowpox on a young boy named James Phipps.

Robert Koch discovered the the bacteria that cause septicaemia and tuberculosis.

Robert Koch discovered the bacteria that caused cholera.

German scientist Robert Koch began linking diseases to the microbe that caused them. He dyed microbes. He identified anthrax spores.

With Chamberland's chance discovery they found the cure for cholera.

Pasteur tried his rabies cure on a young boy that was going to die and it worked.

Paul Ehrlich set out to discover chemicals that could act as synthetic antibodies. His first discovery was dyes that could kill malaria and sleeping sickness germs.

Ehrlich discovered the spirochete bacterium that causes syphilis. Over 600 compounds were tested but none seemed to work, the hunt for the magic bullet for syphilis was still being found.

Sahachiro Hata joined Ehrlich's team ad checked all the compounds again, to their amazement, compound 606 seemed to work.

Compound 606 was first used on a human under the name Salvarsan 606.
