They wanted to attempt social and political reform and regulate big business

Trusts and monopolies were a threat to US citiziens, wanted government to be more accountable to the people, and wanted better living conditions, end child labour and education reform

What did the growing violence and strikes across the US do to the Progressives?
It convinced them that unless reform was introduced to improve the lot of the working classes then socialism would spread and could end up facing revolution

Because they believed it would make society more stable and efficient

Saw regulation of businesses, more flexible currency and greater protection but domestic issues still overshadowed by foreign issues

It had the power to investigate any allegations made against a trust in 1903, Roosevelt supported big business but wanted them to be more responsible

It was set up with the power to oversee any business engaged with interstate trade and introduced in 1914

What did the Federal Reserve Act do and when was it introduced?
Created a nationwide system of credit under an independent Federal Reserve Act and it was introduced 1913

How did progressivism make it hard for US corporations?
It made it harder for them to act against public interest and established principle that government as responsible for the people as well as to them
