What are the 4 types of installation?
Direct, Parallel, Pilot, Phased

Direct Installation
The old system is stopped and a new one is started.

Parallel Installation
The new system is started and run alongside the old system.

Pilot Installation
The new system is tested (piloted) in a small part of a company. Once it is running correctly, the new system is implemented across the whole company.

Phased Installation
The new system is introduced in phases (section by section)

Incompatible file formats, data structure differences, validation rules, incomplete data transfers, international date/currency/character differences.

Backups, Hard copies, Fail over systems, Redundancy, Removable storage, offsite storage, physical security.

The system checks automatically for updates over the internet, and if they are available, they are installed.
