What is a synapse
The point where the axon of a neurone connects with the dendrite of another with an effector.
1 of 5
What is the synaptic cleft?
It is the gap between 2 neurones.
2 of 5
What is the presynaptic neurone?
The neurone that sends the neurotransmitter.
3 of 5
What is the postsynaptic neurone?
The neurone that receives the neurotransmitter.
4 of 5
Describe what happens when a neurotransmitter is released from the vesicle?
It diffuses across to the post-synaptic neurone, which posesses receptor molecles on its membrane to receive it.
