  • To see if people will conform to social roles.


  • Randomly allocated uni students to the role of prisoner or guard.
  • Prisoners arrested at home etc, to increase realism and then given a uniform and a number (dehumanised)
  • Guards given full control of the prisoners and given their own uniforms (with mirrored glasses, wooden club and handcuffs…
