Without thinking
Dogen believed that it is meaningless to seek enlightenment as we are already enlightened, however, we do not allow our enlightened nature to manifest itself

  • Meditation is the purest expression of our enlightened nature
  • We already perceive everything exactly as the Buddha does - the difference is that we impose concepts onto everything that those things do not necessarily have
  • To perceive things as a buddha does, we must practice 'without thinking' -
