Life:

• his father, John, was a crypto-catholic, meaning he hid his true religion until death
• he had three children; Judith, Susanna (both are Catholic names) and Hamnet
• he disappeared from parish registers suggesting he was out of the country, and only when the Queen passes the law that anyone studying abroad in a catholic university  would lose their religion does he reppear
• he was supposedly a tutor for a Catholic family
• he gosparents were suspected to be Catholic
