Why the Sioux won the battle of little bighorn

HideShow resource information

The Sioux won the battle of little bighorn for several reasons. One was because there forces were much larger than Custer had expected ( 3,000 in total) because the Sioux had been joined by the Cheyenne and the Arapaho. Another being they were fighting with desperation and determination, they were ready for a battle . The Indians had better weapons than expected ( Winchester repeating rifles) . Custer was arrogant and charged through the mountains arriving  a day early…

The Sioux didn't win the battle; all they did was defeat Custer's forces.
