- armed forces- a majority of the armed forces remained loyal to the Tsar despite some mutinies. This meant that the disturbances were crushed and the army arrested thousands of revolutionaries. Many of the leaders were executed or exiled, such as Trotsky and Lenin. On the 25th February, Cossack troops refused to fire on the demonstrators.
