why do they choose different subjects
- gendered subject images
science is still seen as gendered due to the many male teachers and the textbooks often draw on male interests
- peer pressure
it influences gender identity and now pupils see themselves in relation to particular subjects
- gender career opportunities
typical jobs for women include nursing and childcare. sex-typing of jobs also impacts people's career choices due to them giving ideas about what kind of jobs are possible/ acceptable
- pupils sexual and gender identities (verbal abuse)
