- The umbilical cord is clamped with a plastic clamp. In a few days it drops off, leaving the belly button.
- The baby has a soft spot on its head called the fontanelle. This is where the bones that make up the skull don't quite join together. It takes 12-18 months for them to join up.
- Some babies have loads of hair on their heads but others have hardly any. The hair sometimes falls out, and completely different coloured hair grows to replace it.
