What is happiness ?

Mill agrees with Bentham that happiness is pleasure and the absense of pain but the exact relation between both needs more clarification. Happiness is not 'continuity of highly pleasurable excitement' a life of rapture, but 'moments of such, in an existance made up of a few transitory pains, many and various pleasures. 

Mill beleives the main obstacles of happiness are a poor education and poor social arrangements…
