- Culture refers to the entire way of life of a society

- Culture includes the whole system of behaviour & beliefs of a society or group: knowledge, language, faith, art, music, fashion, morals, laws, customs, traditions and more

- There is a diversity of cultures across the world

Norms and values

- What makes cultures distinctive are the norms & values associated with it

- Norms:  Expected patterns of behaviour based on values. E.g. wearing clothes in public, eating with a knife & fork, joining the back of a queue, etc.

- Values: Beliefs & ideas that society sees as important. E.g. success, hygiene, family, etc
