After the war, the allies wanted Germany to become a dictatorship however the Kaiser refused. In late October 1918 sailors in northern Germany took over the town of Kiel. Other revolts were soon triggered. On 9th November the Kaiser abdicated from his throne and was replaced by Fredrich Ebert who became the new leader of Republic of Germany.
