Weimar Germany - Hyperinflation
Prices had been rising in Germany during the war and continued to rise afterwards. After the announcement of reparation bill, by the allies, in April 1921 hyperinflation started.
All started by a missed reparations payment:
- Nothing was paid in 1922 or 23 because Germany had economic problems
- French didn't believe them, so invaded the Ruhr with Belgians - collecting reparations in goods
- German government ordered workers to strike (passive resistance)
- French sent in workers
- Germans couldn't go in or out of the Ruhr without…
