Types of Waves:
There are 2 main types of waves that you will come across. These are transverse and longitudinal.
A transverse wave is the wave that most people imagine, going up and down. This is how the energy is transferred. An example of this could be a wave produced in water or a sin wave.
A longitudinal wave is a when energy is transmitted by vibrations or other such motions, and is seen to be bouncing back and forth. Imagine a slinky going back and forth.

Waves have different parts and properties to them:
Wavelength: The wavelength is the length of one point of a wave to the same point on the next cycle of the wave.
