The Water Cycle

• The sun causes evaporation of water from the sea. The water vapour is then carried upwards as the warm air rises
• As the water vapour rises it cools - due to the general cooling of the lower part of the atmosphere at higher altitudes - meaning the water condenses to form clouds
• When the condensed droplets get too big, they fall as rain
• Then the water runs back to the sea, at some point it will run over rocks meaning that water in different places will have different minerals dissolved in it
• Then the whole process repeats itself
