War with Austria

War with Austria:

• Victor Emmanuel delivered a provocative speech in hope to anger the Austrians enough to start a war. This was unsuccessful
• Cavour then mobilised the troops from the army in March 1859, after a while, Napoleon appeared to be getting cold feet
• in response to Cavour's move, Austria demanded that Cavour backed down in April 1859
• fearing what the next move could be, Austria mobilised their large army as well which was quite expensive to keep it running
• after Austria issued an ultimatum towards Cavour, he rejected it
• the result of this was Austria declaring war on Piedmon 29th April 1859
